Some background information first.

When I first planned the program for the Berlin Yoga Conference, I invited teachers exclusively from out of town. My idea for this was the following: Berliners already had access to these amazing Berlin teachers, so why not bring the teachers from other cities and countries then? Furthermore, I even set a specific ration of national (German) VS international (from outside of Germany and Europe) teachers to be 50/50, which is still very much the case.

However, with time I realized that my thinking was not wholistic. Since I wanted this to become an international yoga event that reflects on the local yoga community, I needed to get the Berlin teachers on board, to give them a chance to present themselves to an international audience and to get them involved in this major Berlin yoga happening. This is how the idea for the Berlin Yoga Conference Festival Program was born.

JOST BLOMEYER | Aerial Yoga Teacher and Teacher Trainer

After his training in drama, singing and dance – among others – at the State Ballet School Berlin – he was on stage at the Metropol-Theater. He danced in musicals ranging from “Anatevka” to “West Side Story”, starred in the TV series “Good Times – Bad Times” and choreographed for the boy band “Strong Together”. During his studies as a graduate engineer in architecture, Jost Blomeyer also turned to health-oriented training: He trained in fitness and aerobics and was a lecturer at the TÜV Academy GmbH, for which he trained trainers. After discovering yoga, over a thousand hours of yoga teacher training in France, the Bahamas, and Texas were followed by Sivananda and Ashtanga Vinyasa styles. The accreditation took place at the Yoga Alliance (Registered Yoga Teacher at 500 Hours Level, Multi-Style). He has been teaching yoga for fifteen years and is still a great yoga fanatic.

After his AntiGravity Aerial Yoga training he started in 2009 as one of the first in Germany to teach this training. Later followed another training in Aerial Flow Yoga (Unnata Aerial Yoga style). His courses include knowledge as a certified yoga, fitness, aerobic, pilates, black-roll (fascia training) and TRX sling trainer (sling training). His yoga classes are characterized by humor and serenity, sweaty exercises, concentration on the breathing and a final relaxation. The focus is on Aerial Yoga, Vinyasa Flow and Ashtanga Yoga.

Workshops at the Berlin Yoga Conference

Jost will be leading the following sessions at the Berlin Yoga Conference May 24-26:

Aerial Yoga | 12:00-18:00 | Friday-Sunday, 24.05-26.05

Aerial Yoga combines aerial acrobatics with yoga and effective functional sling training. Some of the Hatha Yoga postures can be performed hanging which reduces the pressure on the intervertebral discs so that the back muscles can relax. In addition to this benefit for the back, the fun factor is huge, especially when swinging, rocking and turning.
