I’m very happy to continue with the series of posts about our Berlin Yoga Conference Festival Program entitled “Berlin Yoga Conference Presents”, with this post dedicated to one of our first and most involved team member and an talented Yoga & Breathwork teacher Juliette van der Weijde.

Some background information first.

When I first planned the program for the Berlin Yoga Conference, I invited teachers exclusively from out of town. My idea for this was the following: Berliners already had access to these amazing Berlin teachers, so why not bring the teachers from other cities and countries then? Furthermore, I even set a specific ration of national (German) VS international (from outside of Germany and Europe) teachers to be 50/50, which is still very much the case.

However, with time I realized that my thinking was not wholistic. Since I wanted this to become an international yoga event that reflects on the local yoga community, I needed to get the Berlin teachers on board, to give them a chance to present themselves to an international audience and to get them involved in this major Berlin yoga happening. This is how the idea for the Berlin Yoga Conference Festival Program was born.

JULIETTE VAN DER WEIJDE | Certified Yoga  & Inner Axis Breathing Teacher

Juliette is a Dutch teacher for yoga and breathwork. Based in Berlin since over 10 years and considering India her third home. She’s fascinated by the transformational power of breathwork. “Through the breath we find the connection to our True Self.” Passionate about teaching Vinyasa and Backbending, she was searching for ways to bring the benefits of yoga to people outside the yoga community. The words of Max Strom deeply resonated with her and she decided to become a certified teacher of his method “Inner Axis”.

Workshops at the Berlin Yoga Conference

Juliette will be teaching the following class at the Berlin Yoga Conference May 24-26:

Inner Axis Breathing | 19:30-20:15 | Saturday, 25.05

Inner Axis is an interdisciplinary system developed by Max Strom, global teacher, speaker and author on personal transformation, yoga and spirituality. The method utilises breathwork, breath-based yoga movements and mindfulness to deal directly with stress, anxiety and sleeplessness. Even though the fight-or-flight response is a natural process of the body, our bodies were never designed to live under stress for such long periods of time. The breath is the most effective tool we have to influence our nervous system. The breathing patterns you’ll learn in this workshop will make you feel better within 10 minutes and can easily be implemented as a daily practice. Inner Axis focuses on making yoga and breathwork accessible for everybody and to alleviate the issues of today: physical (e.g. stiffness and lower back pain due to sitting), mental (e.g. depression, anxiety, sleeping disorders) and emotional (e.g. to release suppressed emotions). The method is very suitable to provide well-being in a corporate environment.
